The wood is beautiful: dark, straight-grained, tight grains; the bore is nice and straight, too. This chanter sets up nicely with a variety of reeds: I mostly played Shepherd and Elliott reeds in this chanter, and it seems to"prefer" molded/ wedge-cut reeds over the ridge-cut(e.g. Warnock and Chesney) style.
